Friends of Citrus County Animal Services

Friends of Citrus County Animal Services (FOCCAS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit 100% volunteer organization formed in 2010 to assist in re-homing, rescuing and providing for the medical needs of homeless pets in Citrus County.

               Our Mission Statement

Friends of Citrus County Animal Services was formed by a group of citizens who are dedicated to advocating animal welfare, community involvement and humane education to further the bond between people and animals and increase the adopt-ability of shelter animals. This organization shall:

    • build awareness in the community about the shelter;
    • highlight our adoptable pets and work to increase pet adoptions;
    • foster alliances with rescues;
    • offer community education & outreach highlighting the responsibilities of pet ownership;
    • expand fundraising opportunities (walkathons, pet sponsorships, calendar contests, etc.);
    • pursue grant writing opportunities;
    • steer fundraising dollars to items not covered by the Citrus County Animal Services  (CCAS) operational budget (extraordinary medical procedures, quality of life, lifestyle and facility upgrades for shelter animals) and to other pet/animal rescue and assistance related 501c3 organizations
